Frequently Asked Questions

Wait, Before you Read the FAQ!

Please make sure you have read the Game Information page first, as the questions are written with the assumption you did.

What IS this place?

You're in a giant city called Nuadoria, surrounded by water and forests. Over the treetops is the distant presence of an large and extravagant cathedral. Everything’s eerily well-kept, despite how silent and empty it is. It has all the comforts of home: electricity, running water, modern furnishings, the works.

So what makes this place different from any other city?

Well, your senses are a bit warped, to say the least. Your character may hear sounds they’ve never heard before, see things and creatures unlike anything in any sort of mythology, feel the touch of things they can’t see or hear, or experience random sensations of falling when they’re standing still—even if none of it is being experienced by anyone else around them. And that’s only the half of it. Nuadoria has no solid form of reality, and it causes one’s senses to go haywire, and for a person to see or experience things they couldn’t normally.

Okay. Is that the only threat?

Nope. Some of these things around you—that you can see and not feel, feel but not see, feel and see but not hear— can hurt you and will actively attempt to. However, these things that go bump in the night are not always present. They seem to only come out to play when the cathedral bell from the other side of the forest sounds. However, if your character is unable to defend itself at that moment in time, they'd better hope to find someone who can do it for them.

Oh no! My character can die here?

They certainly can. Once they die, depending on circumstances (if it's an event or not), there will either have to be a special circumstance as to how they return. During this time (Unless it's an event, it will be approximately 5 days of real world time for the death sequence), dead characters will be only able to post in [info]abodeofmist, the "purgatory" for Nuadoria. They may also post on other people's network posts, but their replies are invisible to the living. Usually, one of the natives will assist in returning the dead to living, for a price.

Wait, what? Natives? Who are they and what do they look like?

No one really knows who they are, persay, although the ones that have been met claim their positions soundly. While they all present an outward appearance some way or another, it's unclear whether they are friend or foe to none, some, or all of the characters in Nuadoria. As unclear as they are towards the characters, perhaps even moreso are they towards one another. The characters have a unique opportunity with the NPCs of this game to form relationships and even join for causes that were past supported within Nuadoria, should they so desire (or they can simply stay focused on their one and only task at hand of returning home ♥ ). It's up to you!

Can I use the NPCs in my logs? Or any ambiguous natives?

Nope, sorry! In AT, the important native NPCs are treated like OCs. They have their players and are not available to be used or assumed into any logs, nor are they available for casual logging with PCs (events, story!plot or important CR only, please). Ambiguous natives are controlled by the NPC account, [info]absolute_npc, and while are not necessarily treated like OCs, are played with this account only. The only exception to this rule is if their is a monster infestation, then it's allowed to use monsters/foes/etc in logs and control them (which might have been obvious, but just in case!)

I think I have another question about these NPCs

Fair enough! Please see here for more information. (Link coming soon!)

Right. I got it. So why am I here, again?

No one quite knows why you're here or how you got there. And while most of the natives claim ignorance and feign innocence to being responsible for your arrival, one or two of them seem to express they may know otherwise.

And what's the deal with that forest?

You mean the one that surrounds Nuadoria on all sides except the one surrounded by water? That one? Depending on what time of the day your character wanders in there, their absolute threshold gets heightened or dampened in an extreme sense. Results vary, but usually end up on the extreme end of the spectrums, causing anyone who tries to go through to immediately lose consciousness and mysteriously wake up in their beds the next morning. However, there have supposedly been times known when the forest's effects to dissipate to allow safe passage to the other side.

And the cathedral?

The cathedral that lies beyond Nuadoria and past the forest is constantly present, looming over the city ominously, even though the only truly visible part of it are the bell towers. At random times, the bells will sound. This will mostly be the signaling of events. Characters' senses will go crazy, and this will also trigger the ability to see and experience some of the nastier things in Nuadoria-- specifically, its hidden demon infestation, as well as some of the city's other hidden secrets.

So that's what you mean about characters' powers fluctuating?

Yes! There will be events every now and again, where the universal reality of the city shifts. Depending on which sense we decide to enhance or take away, some special abilities could be strengthened while others weakened. Keep an eye on the OOC and main communities for these events!

Where can my character live?

Wherever they want. No one will stop them from claiming a random house/apartment and parking their butts in it.

What about food, water, shopping?

See question 1.
Also, there is no economy in Nuadoria. Anything that is taken off the shelves in the shops is immediately replaced.

So what about all these weird sensations, happenings, creatures, and disappearances?

It’s all up to you to involve your character in them. You can make them so intense and disorienting that your character feels the need to gripe about it at every given chance, or you could keep it at a minor inconvenience. Please keep in mind, though, that if you consistently ignore the laws of “reality” in Nuadoria and have your character living an otherwise normal life, you will receive a warning and a rerouting to the rules of the game. This goes for plot, as well. NPCs and the storyline, while not having to be actively dealt with, cannot be ignored and must be taken into consideration while playing at AT. Subsequent offenses will result in disciplinary consequences.

Hey, wait, how is my character supposed to communicate with others?!

When your character's reality finally pieces back together in Nuadoria, a communication device will materialize with them. It may end up in their pocket or fall on the ground next to them, or whatever else. If your character wakes up in Nuadoria, the communicator will already be there in the same fashion. It'll already be on, flashing a welcome message with instructions on how to use.

Communicators all look similar, although some may have certain adjustments to their functions to better suit a character (we're talking about different languages for menu options and etc.). The communicators consist of the actual device and a headset. The device is used for text messaging and visuals (maps, pictures, etc.). The headset is for communicating verbally, allowing hands free action in times of emergencies. The two are not connected, and both do not have to be used. The device will work without the headset, but the headset will not work without the device close by. Everything is automatically translated via text and voice, so there will be no language barriers/no writing in different languages over the system. Basically, think of a really high tech palm pilot or smart phone with a really high tech looking earpiece, and you basically got what we have. Eventually, a generic visual will be available, but for now, use your imagination.

On that note, these devices are currently not customizable (other than the basic things stated above). They are extremely durable, however, and pretty tough to disassemble/break/etc. Mod approval is required before the device is broken/opened/etc. because after that, the communicator won't work (even if they can reassemble it, it won't start working again)until an NPC can be tracked down to fix it.

What ways can my character use their communicators to interact?

This RP makes use of the character journal system. All "communication" will take place in various character journals.

Characters have three options for interacting with the communicators: text, voice, and video. There is an in depth Information guide for those interested in more reading/clarification.

The short(er) version is:

Text acts similar to LJ posts. Messages are also able to be privatized to one or more than one charcter, or be hackable. There are different levels of security (thus making it easier/harder to hack), but all hacking can only be done by a character with the knowledge to do so. And hacking a post information still requires both players to mutually agree on the hacking. Unhackable entries or entries not specified a level of security, are not hackable regardless.

Voice acts similar to text for ooc purposes. But, voice posts that are "locked" to certain people are not locked like a text entry. They are simply on a different channel/frequency that only certain people will hear.

Video acts the same as voice, only it has a visual feed to accompany it.

Can our characters breech the 4th Wall?

The short answer is: Absolutely not.

The long answer is: Only in very, very rare circumstances. It tends to defeat the purpose of a multi-fandom roleplay and doesn't make everyone equal. It gives unfair ooc-knowledge of other characters and is overall a general bad situation. The characters will have enough sanity-breaking problems in this RP where they don't need the added nuisance of fangirling/fanboying from another character. The only exception to this rule is if it is canonically stated that the character would actually know about the characters. (Example: the characters avidly reads Shounen Jump, so they would canonically know Naruto from their world). Because it is actual background and directly mentioned as in character, 4th wall breaching is a possibility. You will need to prove this information to the mods, as well, for us to consider your character able to breech the 4th wall (you can't just say your character is from Japan so they might watch anime. They have to actually do it). However, any 4th wall breaching must be cleared with the players of the characters about to be hassled. Under no circumstances will it be allowed if the players are not okay with it. Sorry, but in that case, you'll just have to get a good reason ingrained in your head as to why they haven't said anything. Please respect this, some people are very very sensitive and against 4th walling outside of crack situations (or at all).

OCs aren't allowed to 4th wall breech under any circumstances. Sorry, but that is would be us just asking for a headache ♥

Can we apply for a character that's already taken if it's a different version?(AU)

No, sorry! We do not allow alternate versions of an already taken character in Absolute Threshold. While a player may pick any version of a character they wish, that is the only version allowed in game at the time. Once that player drops, the next person looking to pick that character up is more than welcome to choose a different version to apply for. Please note, this includes Katekyo Hitman Reborn! characters. If you see any doubles, it's because they've been grandfathered. Please do not argue over the fact they're there, it's no longer allowed to avoid upset and miscommunication. Thank you for understanding!

So, what's the policy on applying for characters that have previously been here?

While Absolute Threshold is a plot intensive game and it'd be ideal if people never got bored and dropped characters or got busy or whatever happens, it does happen! And sometimes, you need to start fresh, even if you are reapplying for the character that you originally dropped. So, in order to avoid the mass amount of work/reviewing that could possibly come along, if a character has been applied for you are welcome to either:

start fresh/reset: Character has no memory of their time in Nuadoria, any effects that had been bestowed upon them during their time in Nuadoria (such as memory loss) are gone, etc, etc.

continue: Character may have all or some of the following: memories, effects/status from previous visit (including any weapons, items, powers, etc. obtained by the character), etc. Please note if you choose this path, you are responsible for all of their past canon, whether you are the original player or not! So, please think really hard about doing this if you aren't the original player! It may be a lot of work! If you like how the character has progressed in Nuadoria, however, by all means feel free to continue where you or another left off. ♥

Why is this plot so complicated?!

READ THIS. If you read nothing else before applying, read this.

Absolute Threshold, even before its launch and revamp had always been intended to be a plot intense game. It was based on the concept of more traditional pen and paper dungeon and dragons RPG style and the idea people wanted to roleplay more for story and character development rather than simply crack, sex, and etc. AT has no problem with having fun (seriously, sex ? Go for it, no one is saying it's not allowed, it's just the game and AT players tend to appreciate people putting development into it or having reasoning behind it instead of it just happening constantly for no reason. Crackish posts? we have our fair share while staying IC, this game would be pretty depressing without some laughs, after all). But the game's core is a different: more serious RP for RPers who are interested that type of serious developed roleplaying. The moderator loves story, loves character development, loves twists, and loves symbolism and all that crap. Thus, that's what you're getting. Something different. It's definitely not for everyone, and it's definitely not a mainstream. This game's plot does have an ending, it won't run forever and aimlessly, and every big event that occurs will have meaning to the plot/story. There will be no random "and then this happens just because" events. There will be no "gender bending" events, or any events that happen just to have random stuff happen (unless, they're in the crack community, of course). That's just not what type of RP this is. If you want to join an RP with little/less complicated plot that isn't as linear, there are plenty of other very well run LJ RPs for you to chose from.

This is a fair warning of what you're applying for. This is what you're going to get. The NPCs are going to be hovering around, and I do mean they'll be hovering around. They're not omnipresent, and they're involved. They're going to talk to your characters indiscriminately, they're going to post, they're going to talk to one another, and honestly you're more than likely going to feel like they're actual characters more than what LJ RPs have made NPCs out to be (as they are based on the concept of important plot!involved video game RPG NPCs). So if you must, think of them as PCs from the game setting solely made to move the game events along (and provide background/history plot entertainment for those who care because, as said before, most players like story here!). It's just how it is. They're not more important to the plot than any other character in the game, they just have the knowledge to move the plot along (their story is ultimately already over). The plot is going to involve your characters indiscriminately (how IMPORTANT your character is to plot is up to you, but your character will most likely end up involved regardless at some point) and this game wants your character in the plot. Your characters are here for a reason! If you like heavy plot, character development, lots of writing and thinking, and getting yourself involved in story, you'll probably like this game.

If you're joining to RP with a couple friends, or just in your little fandom, you probably are not going to like this game and might want to consider applying elsewhere before going through all the trouble of filling out the application and being disappointed with what you receive here. ♥.

Fair warning, no complaining ♥.

Just a quickie~

Are the characters able to write private entries or private messages to people in threads? Are there varying levels of which the entries can be hacked; hackable/not-hackable?

Thank you! :]

Just to let you know, I updated the FAQ. So there is an in-depth information guide available now as well a short version directly in the FAQ above, if you are interested.

But, just to answer your specific questions here, anyway, for your convenience: Yes, private entries/private messages and etc. are most certainly allowed. Entries may also be considered hackable or nonhackable. If hackable, players can specify how hard it is to hack. Nonhackable entries are not hackable under any circumstances. Private/Locked entries/replies without a reference to being hackable/nonhackable are automatically considered on the same level as nonhackable entries.

Also, anyone wishing to hack the information (unless it specifically says "hackable by X") needs to get the other player's approval first, so there is agreement that the hacker was skilled enough to hack the level of security. To keep the harmony and all, since people have different opinions on things.

Hope that and the rest of the information helps you, but if not, don't hesitate to say so ♥

I reserved someone who is already dead canon-wise (a shinigami).

If she comes to Nuadoria, is she suddenly alive again? If so, does that mean any power that she held while being a shinigami becomes void or does she still get to keep them?

Thanks, and sorry if this has been covered, and I've missed it. xD;;;

Hello! No, it's a good question. Please deal with me here, I haven't read Bleach in forever, but after discussing it with the other mod, I think what would be best is to assume it'll be similar to when the Shinigami go down to earth and take on the physical form (I can't for the life of me remember what it's called). So she'll have very limited access to her powers as they do in canon in that form. But when an event comes along, we'll let her have them back.

Does that make sense/help? If not, please let me know so I can clarify better!

Okay question, even though I know I just asked this in the chat.

Two characters from the same fandom are okay, yes? So long as the interaction is minimal.

Second question: Policy on KH/FF duplicates? Because I kinda wanna play Squall but I like playing him better as Leon so I just had to ask before I place a reserve.

As far as KH/FF duplicates, it's one or the other. It'll be first come, first serve. So if KH version is reserved, apped, and accepted, the FF version cannot come into the game until the other character is dropped. And vice versa! ♥

Concerning the playing two characters in the same fandom:

In this particular situation --> After discussing it for a while, we're thinking that while it's completely possible you could make Sora and Leon have limited interaction in Nuadoria, they're a little too close canonwise (we were thinking more minimal interaction canonwise and thus naturally there would be little to no interaction in Nuadoria necessary). Because of the canon relationship, if we let you apply for Leon, we won't have much control how other people can apply in the fandom (such as players applying for two organization members).

Understanding your gripe with FFVIII Squall vs KH Leon, we're especially sorry, but want to prevent possible future headache for the mods with other player/same fandom character combinations. ;;;

If you have any other questions, please let us know! (And we're sorry it took a while to get back to you even though we're all currently in chat).

Oi. I know this question was sort've answered above, but I don't think it entirely answers it completely in my character's situation.

I reserved Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist and he died after episode 50 - the point I want to take him from, after he dies - so I need a little help in figuring how could we say he ended up in Nuadoria? Just being brought back or so?

Or maybe I could have the Gate have some weird mix into it and bring him in? xD;

Thanks guys. <3;

Also I knowww, my application is about six hours overdue - I fail. ._.;;

Hello! You don't actually have to tell us how he got there if you don't have a good idea you want to execute. There's a few "dead" characters floating around in our character base, already.

That said, the idea of "how" they go to Nuadoria and what they experienced was more relevant to characters that were alive or "alive" in the sense they had an existence in some way after their death (The Shinigami from Bleach for example, or Aerith from FFVII). In your case, Edward could simply just "wake up" in Nuadoria - he'll have the same after-effect symptoms of slight vertigo like all the other characters, but he doesn't have to "remember" how he got there or anything since he was dead.

On the flip side, if you DO want to have a set out way of how he gets to Nuadoria, I don't see why you couldn't imply something to do with the gate, so long as it coincides with the idea of the home world breaking down and the senses screwing up and etc.

There really won't be any nitpicking on "how" they got there, really, just so long as they are played by the rules once they're in the city.

Hope that helps ♥ If you need any other immediate help, please feel free to send one of us an instant message [I'm (Seiko) the only one of us awake right now, but by the time you see this we probably will be both available].

Question; are there any abandoned ships at port? And, if so, can Smoker claim one as a home?

He's a stubborn old goat. If he can't have the Grand Line, he'll at least have the sea and a ship he can live on.

There currently aren't any ships at the harbor, unfortunately. However, if you'd like, we could arrange for a native to give him one. It should be interesting, so the option is open to you. Just contact a mod on AIM and we can scheme a little scheme.

This is a bit of an embarrassing question to ask because the answer might be stunningly obvious to everyone except for me but might as well give it a shot! I'm interested in apping an OC except... he'll be more of a partial OC than anything? Rather he's an original character but from an existing 'universe' if you will. For example, say a character existing within the 'Heroes' universe. Essentially a new character but abiding by the rules of that universe. For the character I was thinking of, he'd be a Reaper from the Dead Like Me universe. Would my application be allowed?

Hello ♥

First off, please let me apologize for the obsurd delay in answer this question. There was a lot of im and phone text tag because the other moderator is on hiatus but we needed to discuss it.

Unfortunately, we're strongly discouraging this type of character. We feel it could get too sticky and cause problems in some of the larger fandoms and is ultimately a headache we would prefer not to deal with concerning the OCs. Again, I'm really sorry, but we hope you can find another OC in your collection to play with us or apply for a fandom character ♥

If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave us another post! But, as you can see we are sometimes a little slow, so you may also want to consider messaging us via aim at hasumi atsuma (me) or Sirea at oh oh shinra.

So. I've been thinking about apping as Zero (from Vampire Knight), and he pretty much needs to consume blood in order to retain his strength. Vampires from this series, however, are able to take a pill that supplements the need to physically feed from a human (or whatever other creature), so if/when I app, he would definitely have some of those with him. My question is, though I know/have read about how a character's supernatural abilities aren't as defined in Nuadoria, but how exactly might I apply this to a character who's a vampire? As far as I've thought out, I'd just imagine that Zero's physical need for blood wouldn't be nearly as intense, and that he wouldn't be able to do such things as smell blood or sense the presence of another vampire (or supernatural being), but I felt I'd ask anyway.

Hello! That sounds completely fine. I'm not very familiar with Vampire Knight, but if they have any ridiculous speed or strength advantages, those will be diminshed slightly as well (but not so much since it's more of a physical attribute rather than a 'magical ability'.) As long as the character isn't having any extreme advantage over another character in the game, I think it will be fine.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, hope this helps answer your question. ♥

I'm interested in applying, but the character I'm interested in playing is technically a robot, at least in form. Is this incompatible with the game, or?

The character in question is Xenosaga's KOS-MOS.

Hello!

Yes, applying for KOS-MOS is perfectly acceptable! Just keep in mind the power limitations and work it in (because, technically, mechanical items wouldn't be affected, but for an actual character it'd have to be handled differently than a weapon or item.)

Hello. I stumbled across the game and was wanting to apply. Two of the characters I'm considering applying with is from a book series (the Valdemar from Mercedes Lackey series) and I was wondering if that is acceptable. I couldn't find a list of acceptable fandoms, and was wondering if anything goes.

Also, I saw that companion animals can come if they are closely bonded to the person but is there a limit on how intelligent these animals are allowed to be? Both the characters have a soul bonded animal which is the mental equivalent of another human. They mostly communicate with their particular human, however if pressed they could both force themselves to be heard by others. (The characters are Vanyel/Yfandes and Tarma/Warrl if you are familiar with Lackey)

If either of these things are a problem I can choose another character from a TV fandom, but I just wanted to know my options.

Hello ♥

Both of these situations are fine! For the animals, I'd personally just making that ability to be heard by others more difficult for them to do or something. But other than that everything is perfectly acceptable!

Hope that helps. :)

I'm interested in applying, but the character I want to apply is blind. How would that work when using the communication device?

If worst comes to worst, he does have someone that can read entries to him, but... just wondering if there's any automatic text-to-audio function (computer-generated or otherwise) he can use with the device.

Thanks!

Hi there!

Hmm... we do have another character who is blind already, I'm not sure how that person is doing it exactly (I don't think she's allowing him to read texts, though). But, there is no text-to-audio function because I actually didn't think it through that far, haha, and I'm sorry about that!

Most of the characters use voice; however, since another blind character is coming into the game, I will consider making alterations to the communicators so these characters aren't at a disadvantage unless the player wants them to be! I just need to think what the best way to do it would be without just totally cheesing out on it and making it silly. (if the player doesn't specify text or voice, it's also safe to assume your character can hear it.)

So, I will definitely get on this for you, and hopefully if you decide to apply, by that time I'll have something set up for you and the other player already in game ♥

Hi--I love this RPG, I just found it and I've been reading back through the posts a bit. It's a very cool world.

I had a question about a specific character... Itachi Uchiha is on the wanted characters list, but in older entries he seems to already have a player (who doesn't seem to have officially dropped him...) If I wanted to apply for him, could I go ahead and do so?

Thanks!

Hi there! Thank you very much, I'm happy to hear you like it!

This character was previously played, but the player idled out, so he's available to apply for once applications reopen, which will hopefully be soon! Hope that helps :D

I have a question, if that's all right! I've read everything pertinent, but I didn't see this asked or answered, so:

If one would like to app a character that was previously played here (and dropped, obviously), is it all right to start them off with a clean slate? Since it's so plot-heavy (deliciously so~), I'm just wondering if the policy is different. Also, the character in question was not too deeply involved in the plot, I don't think.

Oh! And one more thing: Is there a certain amount of time someone must wait between apping? I'd like to play two characters here, no more, but as I'd be brand new I'd like to know if I could app them simultaneously, or would have to wait a week/set amount of time, or would have to prove activity with the first before apping a second?

Thank you! I'm very excited to play here!

Hello ♥ Thank you for your interest :D!

Even though a character has been currently played here, you're more than welcome to pick them up and start them with a clean slate, just like other games!

We've had a lot of problems in AT with people sitting on characters. However, as of right now, there is no set time limit between apping characters, particularly if you're new. So if you like, you can app them simultaneously. Depending on the quality of the applications/my mood/etc. only one application may be accepted at a time (as in I may wait a little bit before accepting the other to see how you perform in game if I'm leery), but there is no set time limit and I may accept both at the same time if both applications qualify. :) In this case, just make sure you mark which one you want looked at first.

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Hi, there. :D

I've been observing this game from afar for a month or so, and I'm interested in applying for one or two of my most precious children: Schuldig of Weiss Kreuz and Dietrich von Lohengrin of Trinity Blood.

I can tell my question has probably been hashed out a fair bit over time, but I'm still not sure what would be entirely appropriate for these two in particular, since their supernatural abilities are extremely central to their characters. Schuldig is a telepath (a wickedly sadistic one :\) and Dietrich, aside from mastery of digital Lost Technology, uses imperceptible, thread-like biowires to puppet people around (sensory perception and emotional responses, reanimating corpses, lalala) like an evil, evil brat.

Unlike Schuldig, Dietrich wasn't born with this built into his system -- it's not magic, but a manipulation of science that has allowed him to use this tool on his victims. How hindered do you suppose this weapon would become in Nuadoria? I wanted your opinion on exactly where this fell; I understand the point is to prevent godmodding/power brawls/unfair advantages, which is totally reasonable. He just kiiiind of wouldn't be Dietrich if the power to manipulate people this way was totally cut. Wondering what kind of compromise you think is best, here! (I'm assuming you're plenty familiar with it because I see you are planning to apply for Abel~ ♥)

On the subject of Schuldig, I've always played his telepathy as much of a hindrance to him as it is a help -- he gets excruciating migraines, can't always turn it off, these things affect his already more than questionable mental stability, it will eventually be the cause of his death, et cetera. Would it be fair to say that, while in Nuadoria, he retains the basic talent, but it often comes in like a distorted radio signal, is even more difficult to turn off/fewer things alleviate this, he gets more frequent/worse migraines and it takes other physical tolls on him, and other similar repercussions?

Oh, a Dietrich ♥ Hot. *works on Abel app forever* 8)

Okay, for Schuldig, we had one for like...3 seconds HAHA, so I never really remember going over his powers, but your thoughts on him are totally fine.

As for Dietrich...

Like you said, the point of power hindrance in this game is to prevent god modding/power brawls/unfair advantages, but at the same time the concept of the game isn't to undermine the character's talents, either. If I could trust every player in this game to properly judge and play fairly with one another, I'd probably not even have th epower suppression, really. Haha, just a level. Alas, the ideals never work :(

But, regardless, Deitrich is Deitrich and just because he's in this game, doesn't mean he should be subjected to lower class things and be on par with characters he could normally annihilate if they were pitted against one another.

That said, I talked to a player here who was planning to app Tres as she got me into Trinity Blood and is a way bigger fan, we thought that Dietrich's power didn't really fall under the normal "reasoning" that Nuadoria has plotwise for the reason people's powers are weaker (which is why "magic" is affected). So, to compromise, instead of weakening the entire ability, how about it weakens over time? The longer he performs his manipulation on a certain individual, the easier it is for them to break free? So he'll keep his "original" strength of his ability at first, but the longer it goes on, it'll degrade in "power"/"control" giving the individual a chance to fight back (maybe. haha). we can say eventually it'll flatline out and not get any weaker, at about 30% of its original strength (which is the extreme lower end of the normal flat power suppression, but since he starts so high it seems like it should be ok?). He should be able to still be plenty intimidating, and even at 30% cause a hell of a lot of trouble if he manages to/bothers to hold onto someone that long due to other factors (physical, mental, etc. etc.) . It's not a really quick decline, it'd take a little bit, Tell me what you think! or if you need clarification, I might have gotten confusing.

I don't really think you'll have him running around abusing the power for one, and two, to do any REAL damage, you'd need player permission regardless of how much power he actually has, so I think if you're okay with this type of "limitation" (a gradual decline) rather than just a "flat" power, it'll work fine! And it'll be especially fun for plots? :)

Hi! I'm considering apping GLaDOS from Portal, but figured I'd ask first as she's, well, a giant computer. She does have fairly advanced AI and claims to be able to feel pain, so I doubt the sensory stuff will be an issue. If nothing else, the city can mess with her vision and hearing. The main thing I'm concerned about is that she's not mobile. Would that be a problem?

Hi!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I wasn't feeling that great earlier in the week and wasn't sure how I wanted to answer this request. If you think you can properly integrate GLaDOS into this game and its setting, despite her not being mobile (as in you won't have trouble with her or feel left in any form such as logging since she can't run off to meet people and etc.), I'm more than happy to welcome you to app this character. Nuadoria already has an NPC super computer, so if you were to app GLaDOS, I'm sure there would be plenty for her to do if you wished :)

Basically, I'm totally willing to work with you on it, so it's not a problem if you'd like to app her, just keep in mind even though she is a computer and will have access to the network differently than other characters, she'll still be under the same restrictions as other characters unless something changes (like an NPC gives her permissions. She can, however, probably hack things much more easily than any of the other PCs, for example 8) ).

I hope that helps, sorry for rambling!

ohay, I was just wondering.

If I reapplied for a character I had forever ago, would they keep the memories they had here or do they start with a clean slate?

Hi there!

That's completely up to you! If you want them to have their memories, you may. Or you can simply have them start off with a clean slate. Hope that helps ♥

Hi! I haven't applied or reserved for your game yet, but it looks really interesting! I just wanted to know what your policy on canon-updates are. Thank you!

Thank you!

Canon updates are relatively simple, just need to notify me when you want to do one and make a post in the ooc community. It's your choice if the characters remember their time in game or not.

Just FYI, if you do end up applying, I'm the only moderator and I've been pretty slow with applications, so don't be discouraged. I just take a little bit longer than a normal game does :(

Question\Suggestion:

Question: If having a decent and engrossing idea for a plot muses to a player, is it possible to recommend? I know that this game is technically [info]gearcheim's baby so it's understandable whatever the answer.

Suggestion: If the NPCs are intended to be considered as very noticeable and in-depth characters, why not make journals for the seperate entities? When these characters make their appearances, it's easier to assume who it is no matter the icon (although a plus because it's XIIIverse characters. I ♥).

If you have an idea for a plot, it's more than welcome to be recommended! I usually try to implement anything people want to do as long as it goes along with the theme/makes sense with the mechanics of the games/players want to do it.

As for the NPCs, I think when I was editing the info I didn't make it clear enough that the ones with players/are treated like OCs aren't associated with the general NPC account. The general NPC account ([info]absolute_npc) only houses infrequent NPCs + 1 Informational NPC. The noticeable/in-depth NPCs mentioned that are constantly around and consistently a part of the game/storyline do all have separate journals just like any other character in the game. C:

If I misunderstood your suggestion, though, and you meant something else, please feel free to clarify! I apologize ;;
