PROLOGUE
June 15 :: STAND DOWN

Your character will awaken in a crossroads somewhere randomly in town. Looking out into the distance, they will see the scenery waver slightly, as though the humidity in the city was extremely high, though they will not feel any. They will get a split-second glance of a native before it disappears like mist, and they will not see another for quite some time. In their hand is a small communication device, giving no explanation for where they are or why; there only exists a screen with the word WELCOME on it… until, of course, the device crackles alive with the grainy, broken voice of a passing native.

If your character attempts at using any supernatural powers, they will find themselves overwhelmingly dizzy. They will get dizzier the harder they try to call upon said ability and will eventually vomit if they push themselves hard enough. Characters with no supernatural abilities will be awash with feelings of vertigo at random intervals. These effects will only last for two days.

Welcome to Nuadoria.

June 18 :: THE PATH IS OPEN

Your characters will feel as if a small weight has suddenly been lifted from them, even though they never felt this weight on them to begin with. Again, an eerie voice crackles through the communicators, followed by a beep to get the user’s attention. On the communicator screen as the pop-up default view now is a map.

In addition to the note on the map, a couple other things to be noted:

- white dots are ‘structures’. These are particular significant structures, but are not the only structures within the city. It’s just to give a general idea of the layout.
- Characters will see the “grid” lines just like it is on the map, only in a much fainter color. They have no idea what it means, and we hope players will comply with this and play along once their character ventures into some of the more “dangerous” places. (What’s the fun of it if you don’t play along otherwise?)
- The only other thing that the players can see on this map that the characters cannot are the labels for the “sea” and “the forest” (to the character, it’s blank or just a bunch of weird texture).

You’ve got a lot of exploring to do, so what are you waiting for?

June 24 - 30 :: THEY'RE COMING

DAY ONE AND TWO: (Tuesday and Wednesday)

The device will suddenly spring to life with the hoarse, ragged voice of a Native with an ominous warning. Almost immediately after the transmission, the bell from the giant church beyond the forest outside of town will sound. Once. Twice. Three times. And more. The sky above Nuadoria will grow completely dark, with absolutely no natural light. Scarce, sporadic street lanterns will dot the streets as the only source of light. It would behoove your character to find a candle to travel with at the Candle Shoppe in the northern sector of town… if they think to or can find the place in such overwhelming darkness.

The only things visible in the seemingly constant night are sets of glowing red eyes. They will be your character’s only warning before a giant black cat-like demon will spring from the shadows and pounce them. Fear not, however, for these beasts cannot hurt your character. For now. The attacks will pass directly through your character, as though the creatures themselves were merely holograms.

Other than natural instincts, these demons will not be able to be "sensed" by characters, regardless of their abilities. All other supernatural powers will be available and remain with no change (still no flying/teleporting/etc.), but those lacking such abilities will suddenly gain sharper eyesight and very slightly better night vision. This enhancement will last until the final day of the entire event.

DAY THREE AND FOUR: (Thursday and Friday)

The skies will still be black, but the “fake attacks” from the cat-like demons will stop. They will, instead, take to merely sitting in the shadows motionlessly, watching the new residents of Nuadoria in a steady, patient silence. As your character walks the streets of the city, they will see the glowing red eyes of the beasts up on rooftops, in alleys, and even in the windows of certain buildings, never moving and ever vigilant. If your character approaches the set of eyes, they may see the outline of the creature’s body from some faint light before it retreats back into the shadows and continues to stare. Even if your character attempts to engage them, they will only retreat to a higher, safer ground.

DAY FIVE AND SIX: (Saturday and Sunday)

The very air around Nuadoria has suddenly changed and shifted into something much more oppressive and threatening. The demons will suddenly go on the offensive again, but this time, the attacks will land, and your character will hurt. However they are not completely defenseless, as their own attacks will subsequently hurt the demons as well. Those with supernatural powers will be able to defend themselves with them, but unfortunately not to the point that they will have remembered defending themselves with before; their powers will still be heavily dampened. But with the shift in the air of Nuadoria comes certain other consequences that characters will be able to use to their advantage during battle.

From here on out, every time your character is approached by one of the demons, the disaster center in their minds will automatically be triggered to its maximum level. Seconds will suddenly feel like hours. They'll be able to think – think logically and decide their next course of action in the situation - all the while the world is still moving at its seconds pace. In some cases, your character (regardless of if they have powers/abilities or not) will even be able to see the demons visibly make all their movements, despite how lightning fast they actually are. Characters that can track fast movement to begin with will be able to see it at an even slower pace.

When your character's disaster center is not engaged (it will end a short time after the immediate threat is gone), they will feel incredibly displaced in their thoughts and physical process. Some will be overly hyper, some will be in a state of shock, some will find it hard to stay in control of their actions (watch out). It's ultimately your choice – the only condition is it's at an extreme and that regardless of how they think they feel, their bodies will not be able to handle most of their desired actions (They can walk, talk, and other very basic actions).

July 1 :: FOLLOW-UP EVENT

At the exact stroke of midnight (EST), a tiny beam of light will break through the heavens and slice the darkness overhead the city. The sky will then slowly unveil itself once more, returning to the light gray it once was. As the city brightens, it will also reveal the littering corpses of the shadowy cat demons strewn about the streets and alleyways. The curse upon your character seems to lift along with the brightness of the city; most feelings of disorientation are gone, and time seems to move at a normal pace once again. Your character will then be able to take notice of the eerie sight that stands constant on every corpse: the eyes of the cats are all still open and constantly standing, though they appear to have lost their life’s glow.

As your character approaches a corpse to get a better look, they will suddenly notice that someone else has gotten there first: a native. The native will stand at attention, their bodiless figures stoic and indifferent in the face of such carnage. Seconds will feel like hours, and every tick of the clock causes your character to feel more and more unease, as though the formless being in front of them is boring their eyeless sight into your character’s very soul. Just as your character asks him or herself whether or not their mind is still playing tricks on them, they will find that both the native and the body of the demon have disappeared into thin air. Confused, your character turns around to survey the rest of the city, and catches the sight of a few natives that blink away almost instantaneously. It appears as though the cleanup crew has arrived. The entire city has a feeling of overwhelming sympathy and mourning in the air, and the natives seem to carry these very emotions with them as they walk.

Sometime later, the communicator will spring to life once again with a new update and alert. Your character has now been given the ability to ping the map on their communicator in order to show their location to the person he/she is talking to.

From here on out, if your character plays his or her cards correctly, they may be able to elicit a spoken response from a native. However, if spoken in person, your character will be immediately caught off guard as the native in question assumes the form of the character addressing it in order to engage in conversation.

July 28 :: COME AND PLAY
//Player Event : A little destruction of the library brings about very unpleasant consequences.
One, two

August 18 - August 27 :: LEARN TO SWIM
As your character takes note of the bit of water lining the streets of Nuadoria, he or she will soon come to find that the level will now begin to rise exponentially after every time they blink, until the waterline reaches five feet in height. No matter which part of the city your character treks into, the water will be consistently chilling. Should your character head for higher ground, he or she will find that their actions will still be weighted and sluggish, as though they were still wading through the deep waters in the street.

However, drowning and exhaustion are not the only dangers facing your character. Within the depths await two very large great white sharks, seemingly genetically altered to be much smarter and more capable than your character believes they should be.

August 27 :: END BY ICE
The water has been stagnant and undisturbed other than sharks and people trudging through it. While the sharks have been creating a bit of chaos, the past several hours have been eerily silent. No more sharks—not even sightings—and no sight or sound of the disappeared. It looks like it'll be a very gradual process of fixing the city even if the party at the dam is successful.

Or, not.

The temperature will plummet suddenly, and the sound of ice forming, connecting, and solidifying is heard off in the distance at the ports. The water will freeze completely solid, but it won't happen everywhere all at once. Instead, the ice will travel at abnormally fast speeds, freezing over the water like a blanket and spread rapidly throughout the city via the paths set up by the water. The ice does not stop, however, with the water once it reaches the western side of the city. It continues to encase, wrapping up and around the bridge. Unlike everything else thus far, it even manages to attach itself to that invisible barrier blocking the rest of the bridge and exit. It climbs and spreads, creating for the first time a visible view of the sheer size of the barrier that's been keeping all the characters in. There seems to be no top to it as the ice simply continues to travel up until it can no longer be seen, although it'll eventually stop and so will the noise accompanying it.

The characters now seem to be present with an even potentially worse situation: frigid temperatures, and five feet of solid ice encasing half the city. But after a few minutes of this new environment, the ice will rupture and violently split itself apart. It'll continue to crack and shift and then will just explode, shattering like glass. Unlike the initial freezing process, this is simultaneous everywhere and all at once, except for the ice on the barrier. A louder and more heavy explosion is heard just seconds after the ice in the city breaks apart and anyone that is on a roof would be able to see the ice-encased barrier blow out at the top, sending ice and oddly glistening debris into the air. The remainder of the barrier collapses under the weight of the ice.

Before any of the ice shards can hit anyone or settle back to the ground, they will dissipate as if they never existed. The temperature will climb back to normal and the water will be completely gone. The only remnants that something just occurred are the odd shimmers of light that pass under the grayed-out sun. CHAPTER I: EARTH
SEPTEMBER 18 :: TIME IS A-TICKING

Original Post
[ Recording begins. Whether your communicator is turned on mute, or turned off, you'll still hear this message loud and clear. The man speaking clears his throat, and begins. ]

[ in almost sing-song ] Good afternoon, Naudoria.
It seems like someone's had a little fun without us.
So, I thought, why not make our own fun?

Lets play another game. One a little more interactive.

[ short pause ]

Today you're all going to be part of a little social experiment.

[ jaw click ]

Right now, I'm ready to blow the city sky high.
But if by the strike of midnight there are only ten standing,
those lucky ten get to keep their lives.
If not... [ chuckle ]
Well, I'm sure you can fill in the blanks.

Aaand...
begin.

Lets see what you've got, Naudoria.

Time is a tick-ing.

[ transmission ended ]

//The Joker, [info]callmechelsea

Failure is a difficult thing. At midnight, five died due to the terrorism, the first deaths of the city. These five found themselves in a place called Niflheim, the Purgatory of Nuadoria and the Child realm.

But, it isn't over for them, and for the first time, they meet someone face to face.

September 27 :: POWER RELEASE

Mini-Event
.: Effects: Power Suppression gone. All character powers temporarily restored to 100% canon ability in order to compete with the enemy.

September 28 :: FALL OF THE MASTERS

In concurrence with this transmission, looking up to the sky will give everyone the same view of the large winged creature screeching its last moments, it ignites an attack from its open mouth. Instead of at its opponents, it instead sends it off into the sky. Unlike what one would normally think would happen, the energy actually hits something and penetrates into the sky rather than off across it (as if the sky was paper). There's no explosion, no nothing to indicate the 'puncture' however as Phalanx finally falls back to dip to the ground in its defeated state. Upon hitting the ground, however (taking a few buildings with it), his physical form disintegrates in an explosion of sheer force, sending a shockwave throughout the city. The wave will cause tremors, but once it actually passes across a character, it will whip directly through them. It won't hurt (although they may or may not be knocked off their feet), but they will feel that adrenaline rush they had earlier halt as if a switch was turned on. The heavy pressure from the impending dark red and black zones that probably cover a good 90% of the city now starts to lift, as well as the normal red zones. Nothing will look different other than that feeling, initially, but as soon as the shockwave dies out completely, the next blink of an eye for all the characters will show the city completely back to its original state. No rubble, no destroyed buildings, not cracked streets, etc. The only evidence that anything happened are a few pieces left from the monster (part of one of phalanx's wings, part of one of cthulu's tentacles, part of Prithvi's skin—think snake skin—,and one of Azmeth's teeth.)
.: Effects: All threshold influence zones temporarily turned green. Minimal mental/physical hindering at minimal capacity ; Power Suppression back to game defaults.

October 31 :: LET US TRADE

A pact made between the Ice and Fire Magister of the fate of the current dead and all future unfortunate souls.
.: Result : From this point on, any character who dies within Nuadoria is branded with the Fire Magister's seal and becomes his "property". They are mostly left alone, although this seal has the ability to make it difficult to go against the Fire Magister's will.

.: Another NPC greets the characters.
.: Results: first official antagonist to the characters.

November 1 - November 7 :: OTHERWORLD

And everything rots...
.: Effects: City Decays, Monster Infested, Atmosphere Influences (Threshold Zones) back to normal

November 4 :: THE AIR MAGISTER

"I take it that the other two have kept you entertained, thus far."
.: Effects: None.

November 7 :: REGENERATION

Thanks to a certain Fire Magister (and a certain group of very self sacrificing characters), the state of Nuadoria's decay will suddenly come to a halt as another set of bells is heard ringing their ominous sound. One. Two. Three. All over again, the same eerie sounds that brought this nightmare in the first place. The monsters will stop their attacks, their pursuits, even their simple prowling of the streets and retreat back into the shadows to disappear completely from Nuadoria for the time being. The decay and rot itself will actually peel itself away, stripping off to leave reassembled and perfectly normally put together buildings and etc. As the rot falls away, damages will disappear like they had never been there. A complete reversal effect will happen, in short, and Nuadoria will go back to the way it was prior to the Otherworld event.

...Or, not quite.

Just as things seem to about be going back to normal, and the bells should stop their ringing, they instead will ring once again, although at a high pitched and unbalanced paced. Again, one ring, two rings, up to five at a decibel so high and so out of rhythm it's painful enough to disorient oneself. And then all at once it'll stop, curt and abrupt, and when the reverberations finally stop in the characters heads and they can regain their senses, they'll notice once again Nuadoria is again quite.... different. But, this, this would almost seem like a difference for the better.

It's strange, but the sun is out, and the sky is blue, and everywhere is so green, with plant life: trees, flowers, and etc. The streets are clean, buildings look well taken care off and not at all abandoned in the slightest. The city even has a comforting feel, like there are more than just the refugees there. Listening, it's even possible to hear animals: birds, cats, dogs. Furthermore, children running around playing, and other human beings talking can be heard, like there is hustle and bustle of a well to do city, and in fact, if characters search, they may very well find "natives" wandering around about their daily business in some areas of the city. Shopping, taking care of children, having outings, reading, etc, etc. However, they will ignore your characters entirely, unable to see or hear them (because, they themselves are simply images of the past), so any attempt to talk to them will be futile.

What your characters are experiencing is a Nuadoria before their time here, a time before whatever destruction fell upon it: an image of it at its peak prosperity. Even in the worst parts of Nuadoria (dark red zones and black zones), characters will be not harmed in this version of the city. It is a peaceful place, and those "zones" will only serve to intensify the hallucination of prosperity by giving characters a more in depth feeling of reliving the time when Nuadoria was still at its prime.

November 22 :: METEOR || AFTERMATH

This isn't what one would expect to wake up to nor experience, whether now in city encase in protective ice, watching from a distance from the outskirts of the forest beyond the city, or now from the otherside in Niflheim itself: the city destroyed, burning, and burning is really the least of its problems. For now, its inaccessible to explore, but once is accessible, the half of the city that meteor directly hit and cratered will reveal a rather interesting and quite comforting scenario. The crater is massive and deep, but even from the distance above its easy to see there is something down there, and that something is damaged. And it should not be, from the way its energy pulses so oddly. There's a lack of balance, even a balance that is akin to being able to recognize as chaos.

Standing too long around this crater to observe the area will cause characters to get immensely ill: physically and mentally. They will also hear voices, at first many at once similar to what happened before the earthquake, and then one overpowering influential one that will suffocate their control until they pass out (consider the effects around this crater extremely similar to a city blackzone. All the zones have been neutralized and scrambled, so they're currently not where they should be and necessarily applicable). When they wake, characters will find themselves at the entrance to the cathedral on the other side of the forest.

With the impact of meteor, the forest has also reacted. Its ominous presence has dissipated and its trees have become less dense and more welcoming. The atmosphere is no longer thick and disorienting; in fact, it's quite the opposite. Characters who enter the forrest and aimlessly wander will inevitable end up at the other side instead of being forever lost; into the courtyards of the massive cathedral.

As your characters enter the cathedral, it's a wonder of what will happen next, now. Terrible enough to be stuck in an unknown world, but now with the first familiar ally gone and the only familiar place known destroyed, where is there to turn and what is to happen now?

Original Information Post
.: Effects & Results The cathedral beyond the forest becomes temporarily accessible to the characters with the city in ruins.
